For Sponsorship, Venue & Brand Partnership Leads

Know what to ask before you book a flight experience.

Canopy Pilot is the human flight experience platform pro sports teams, venues, and brand partners use to turn a sponsorship activation into something fans participate in, share, and remember. This brief walks through how it works as a reusable experiential channel, what a day actually includes, and the questions worth asking before you book one.

What It Actually Is

Canopy Pilot is a VR/XR parachute-flight simulator with proprietary flight physics — not a scripted demo. Because the simulation is real enough to train actual skydivers, it holds up as something people play more than once: each attempt is different, so a fan lines up again, brings a friend over, and posts their score. That loop is what turns a sponsorship activation into a channel — repeat play extends dwell time at your space, and a shareable leaderboard turns each session into content your brand didn't have to produce.

It runs standalone on any VR-ready PC and headset, and integrates with a harness rig when you want full-body motion as part of the experience. It was built first for military and civilian drop-zone training, and that's still where most of its flight hours come from — drop zones including Air Ohio, West Virginia Skydivers, and Skydive Vancouver Island train real students on it today. A fan at your activation is flying the same simulator a student pilot uses to prepare for a real jump, which is part of why it holds up under the foot traffic of a live event rather than a build designed only for a trade-show booth.

Before You Sign

The questions that separate a real partner from a demo booth

Every one of these has a specific answer below — not a "let's hop on a call to discuss." If a vendor can't answer as plainly, that's worth noticing.

01

What's actually included in the day rate, and what gets billed on top?

Every tier includes the VR station and backup equipment, a trained attendant on site, unlimited jumps during your deployment window, and standard session analytics. Shipping and logistics are billed separately, at cost — typically around $4,000 round trip — so there's no freight markup buried in the quote.

02

Does this need special hardware, or does it run on a standard rig?

It runs standalone on any VR-ready PC and headset — nothing proprietary to source. If you want full-body immersion, it also integrates with a harness rig, but that's an upgrade you choose, not a requirement to budget around.

03

How does this actually translate into measurable sponsor value, not just a fun photo op?

Every session logs to a shareable leaderboard — one QR code at a single activation produced 317 views, a number you can point to directly, not an estimate of "buzz." Standard session analytics ship with every tier, so you leave with real participation data to report back to the sponsor, not just photos.

04

What do we own afterward — the data, the footage, the environment?

It depends on the tier. Pilot is priced for a first engagement with a new partner and requires case-study rights in exchange. Production includes full IP and data terms plus co-branded attribution. Custom is a white-label build — the branded environment itself is scoped and licensed separately from the day rate.

05

Can the environment be rebuilt around our sponsor's brand, and what does that cost?

Yes — that's the Custom tier. A bespoke branded environment is scoped project by project; expect a separate license fee in the $5,000–$40,000 range on top of the day rate, depending on complexity.

06

Has this held up at scale, in public, with people who've never touched a headset?

220 sessions with zero equipment failures during continuous public participation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Village is the most relevant proof point for a sponsorship activation — public, high-traffic, mostly first-time users, the same conditions your venue or event creates. The same deployment produced 317 leaderboard views from a single QR code, which is a direct read on repeat play and social sharing, not just novelty.

07

Is this a one-time installation, or can it become a recurring touchpoint?

It's built to travel. The day-rate structure isn't tied to a single build-out — book it again at the next game, a different venue, or a different market, and the same platform becomes a repeatable fan touchpoint across a season rather than a one-off activation.

08

Who else is already flying it, and in what context?

Military training programs in three G7 nations, deployed through a Flight-1 Technologies partnership, and civilian drop zones including Air Ohio, West Virginia Skydivers, and Skydive Vancouver Island train on the same core platform today. It's one product proven in professional training and adapted for public activation — not a stripped-down demo build.
