OUR WHY:
Flight simulators have helped train aircraft pilots under instructor supervision for decades. Experiential training works.
But sadly, we have lost too many skydiving brothers and sisters who made bad decisions under the canopy.
Today, what gets us out of bed in the morning is bringing all skydivers a virtual reality parachute flight simulator to help foster a deeper, more informed awareness of safe canopy flight above all drop zones.
Our proactive approach is to provide skydivers with experiential training. Under instructor supervision, this allows them to practice making better canopy navigation decisions thereby reducing the risk of accidents.
Our “why” is to reduce canopy-related accidents and incidents.
We aim to do this in three specific ways:
Practice
Human beings learn best by doing. Our goal is to enable skydivers to sharpen their canopy flight decision-making with realistic, relevant scenarios. To meet this goal we created a virtual reality parachute flight simulator we call Canopy+Pilot. It is designed to complement and enhance existing parachute flight instruction tools and techniques.
Promote Dialogue
With the ability to practice canopy flight safely on the ground, we aim to promote respectful and informed discussion around how canopy navigation is improved by allowing students to practice making better decision’s.
Build Community
We constantly share the sky with each other while jumping and navigating our parachutes. As a community, by developing safer canopy practices we ultimately keep more skydivers jumping while simultaneously bringing new jumpers to our sport.
