The French Parachute Federation (FFP) has doubled down on virtual reality technology following our successful collaboration during the 2024 Paris Olympics. At their recent annual Congress, FFP announced an innovative partnership to study VR’s effectiveness as a training tool at one of France’s premier dropzones, Skydive Pujaut.
This initiative builds on our Olympic Village demonstration, where we delivered over 250 virtual jumps in just two days. The overwhelming response from both experienced skydivers and curious spectators validated VR’s potential for training and as a powerful tool for public engagement.
FFP organized a nationwide competition among French skydiving schools to foster innovation in skydiving education. Six schools were to create promotional videos showcasing their training programs. Skydive Pujaut emerged victorious, earning a comprehensive VR training package that includes our skydiVR software, a state-of-the-art VR headset, and a high-performance laptop.
Starting March 2025, our European Business Developer, Jeremie Zimmermann, will be stationed at Pujaut to oversee this groundbreaking project. Working closely with FFP and Pujaut’s experienced instructors, Jeremie will conduct a comprehensive study on VR’s impact on student training outcomes. This research will focus mainly on how virtual reality can help new skydivers build confidence and develop essential skills before taking to the actual skies.
We are excited to share detailed findings from this study, representing a significant step forward in modernizing skydiving instruction. Insights into how VR technology can enhance traditional training methods will benefit the entire skydiving community by the end of the year.
Stay tuned for updates as we work to revolutionize the future of parachute training.
